Raisa was just a child when she was sold to work as a slave in the kingdom of Qilara. Despite her young age, her father was teaching her to read and write, grooming her to take his place as a Learned One. In Qilara, the Arnathim, like Raisa, are the lowest class, and literacy is a capital offense. What’s more, only the king, prince, tutor, and tutor-in-training are allowed to learn the very highest order language, the language of the gods. So when the tutor-in-training is executed for teaching slaves this sacred language, and Raisa is selected to replace her, Raisa knows any slipup on her part could mean death.

Keeping her secret is hard enough, but the romance that’s been growing between her and Prince Mati isn’t helping matters. Then Raisa is approached by the Resistance—an underground army of slave rebels—to help liberate Arnath slaves. She wants to free her people, but that would mean aiding a war against Mati. As Raisa struggles with what to do, she discovers a secret that the Qilarites have been hiding for centuries—one that, if uncovered, could bring the kingdom to its knees.

Here is my review of REBEL SPRING >> HERE <<

I did not review the third in the series because there was NO WAY I was able to talk about the book and not share any spoilers. What I can say about book three, GATHERING DARKNESS, is that it is my favorite in the entire series! I absolutely loved where the story goes, and how close some of the characters become. I might actually have to do a re-read before FROZEN TIDES comes out.

Review: The Affiliate by K.A. Linde

The Affiliate
by K.A. Linde
Kindle Edition, 339 pages
Published September 15th 2015
by K.A. Linde Inc.

On the day of her Presenting, in front of the entire Byern Court, seventeen-year-old Cyrene Strohm's lifelong plans come to fruition when she's chosen for one of the most prestigious positions in her homeland—an Affiliate to the Queen.

Or so she thinks.

When Cyrene receives a mysterious letter and an unreadable book, she finds nothing is as it seems. Thrust into a world of dangerous political intrigue and deadly magic, Cyrene's position only grows more treacherous when she finds herself drawn to the one man she can never have...

King Edric himself.

Cyrene must decide if love is truly worth the price of freedom. Find out in this first book in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s new Ascension series.

I don't even know where to begin. I have never read a book by K.A. Linde before. Though, I have been curious since her books get recommended a lot. The Affiliate caught my eye because lately high fantasy is all I've been reading. I have a huge obsession with it, especially young adult high fantasy.

Also, the cover completely sealed the deal for me. I actually started off with a sampler of the book and once the sampler came to its end I immediately logged in and bought the book so that I could finish it. I was so into it and I only read the first 20 pages or so. This book did not disappoint. I could not put it down. I loved everything about it. The romance is by far my TOP FAVORITE thing about this book. It was there, but it wasn't. I thought at first there was going to be a love triangle, but Linde did not throw that into the mix in this book. Now as for the sequel, who knows, but I hope not!

I still don't know how I feel about Kael, the King's brother. I don't know if he is bad or good, and I think that was the author’s goal. Which, let me tell, she succeeded in doing one hundred percent. I hated him, then I started to like him, then hate him, and ended with liking him again. The King has my heart, though. FOREVER! LOL!

Argh! The feels!! This book definitely took me by surprise. I never heard of it, nor have I seen it in the blogosphere, but it caught my attention. I bought it yesterday and finished it today. Now I am tempted to try Linde's other books, but I am not a big contemporary romance fan. I have a handful of authors that write contemporary that I read.

Anyway, if you are reading this review it's because the cover, blurb, or something about this book got your attention, and I am here telling you that YOU MUST BUY IT AND READ IT! SO WORTH IT!

Review: Cage of Deceit by Jennifer Anne Davis

Expected publication: August 25th 2015
by Clean Teen Publishing

Jennifer Anne Davis's best-selling True Reign series captivated readers from the very first page. Now, get ready to become entangled in the follow-up series, Reign of Secrets. In this new series, follow Allyssa, the daughter of the beloved Emperor Darmik and Empress Rema— and find out what happens after happily ever after.

Seventeen-year-old Allyssa appears to be the ideal princess of Emperion—she’s beautiful, elegant, and refined. She spends her days locked in a suffocating cage, otherwise known as royal court. But at night, Allyssa uses her secret persona—that of a vigilante—to hunt down criminals and help her people firsthand.

Unfortunately, her nightly escapades will have to wait because the citizens of Emperion may need saving from something much bigger than common criminals. War is encroaching on their country and in order to protect her people, Allyssa may have to sacrifice her heart. Forced to entertain an alliance through marriage with a handsome prince from a neighboring kingdom, she finds herself feeling even more stifled than before. To make matters worse, the prince has stuck his nosy squire, Jarvik, to watch her every move.

Jarvik is infuriating, bossy and unfortunately, the only person she can turn to when she unveils a heinous plot. Together, the unlikely pair will have to work together to stop an enemy that everyone thought was long gone, one with the power to destroy her family and the people of Emperion. Now the cage Allyssa so longed to break free from might just be the one thing she has to fight to keep intact. In order to save her kingdom, she will have to sacrifice her freedom, her heart, and maybe even her life.

I recently attended Book Expo of America in New York City with a couple of blogging friends of mine, and sort of jumped in blind. I knew of maybe 5 books that were going to be featured there and that I MUST-HAVE. CAGE OF DECEIT was in that top 5!

A couple of month’s back I came across her TRUE REIGN series and absolutely LOVED it. There are only three books in the series, and they were amazing! When I found out that she had written a spin-off I literally jumped with joy. I am not kidding! That is how much I loved the characters, the world, romance, EVERYTHING!

CAGE OF DECEIT did not disappoint! It’s filled with just as much suspense and action as Jennifer Anne Davis TRUE REIGN series. There isn't one complaint out of me over this book. It was written well, from beginning to end you are completely entertained and fully hooked on the characters. Davis gives you just enough action mixed in with romance that it makes the story feel complete. It was a bit predictable at times, but I am okay with that because I was secretly hoping the story was heading in that in direction.

I thought Jennifer Anne Davis' TRUE REIGN series was one to rave about, but CAGE OF DECEIT has topped it, and has completely blown me away! I love this book! I cannot wait for the sequel! Davis will forever be on my MUST-READ list. A Good Choice for Reading! ;) A MUST-READ!

Review: The Shattered Court by M.J. Scott

The Shattered Court
by M.J. Scott
Paperback, 336 pages
Expected publication: April 28th 2015
by Roc

First in a new fantasy series from the author of the Novels of the Half-Light City.

Entangled in a court ruled by tradition and intrigue, a young witch must come to terms with newfound power and desire—and a choice between loyalty and survival.…

The royal witches of Anglion have bowed to tradition for centuries. If a woman of royal blood manifests powers, she is immediately bound by rites of marriage. She will serve her lord by practicing the tamer magics of the earth—ensuring good harvests and predicting the weather. Any magic more dangerous is forbidden.

Lady Sophia Kendall, thirty-second in line to the throne, is only days away from finding out if she will be blessed—or perhaps cursed—with magic. When a vicious attack by Anglion’s ancient enemies leaves the kingdom in chaos, Sophia is forced to flee the court. Her protector by happenstance is Lieutenant Cameron Mackenzie, a member of the royal guard, raised all his life to be fiercely loyal to the Crown.

Then Sophia’s powers manifest stronger than she ever imagined they would, and Cameron and she are inextricably linked in the process. As a witch unbound by marriage rites, Sophia is not only a threat to the established order of her country, but is also a weapon for those who seek to destroy it. Faced with old secrets and new truths, she must decide if she will fight for her country or succumb to the delicious temptation of power.

I am going to make this review short and simple!

This book was everything I wanted, and more!

M.J. Scott created a world where Females pretty much rule everything. And the best part? There is MAGIC!!! I love all things Witches. Throw in the whole King, Queen, soliders, etc. I am even more in love! This is the first adult fantasy novel I’ve read in a very, very long time! I miss my adult romance! In my opinion, THE SHATTERED COURT can also fall under the New Adult category.

Anyway, I loved this story! I cannot wait for the sequel! There better be a sequel! I am officially a fan of M.J. Scott and plan on buying her other books and devouring those!

Here is a little check list I created. The Shattered court has it all! READ IT!

Romance √
Action √
Magic √
Betrayal √
Kick-ass Females √
Swoon Worthy Male √
Sexy-time √
Suspense √

I say it again… READ IT!!!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!
