Review: Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes (Blog Tour)

Immortal Reign
by Morgan Rhodes

IMMORTAL REIGN (#6)
As two lethal elemental gods set out to destroy Mytica, sworn enemies must become allies in the final fight to save the kingdoms.

Jonas continues to willfully defy his destiny, but the consequences of plotting his own course are drastic. As the fight for Mytica rages on, he must decide just how much more he's willing to sacrifice.

Lucia knows there's something special about her daughter and she'll do anything to protect her, even if that means facing Kyan alone.

Amara is called back home to Kraeshia. Grandma Cortas has her own plans for Mytica's future. She promises Amara power, revenge, and dominance if she agrees to be part of her scheme.

Magnus and Cleo's love will be put to the ultimate test. Dark magic is causing widespread destruction throughout the kingdom. Enemies across the sea are advancing. And unrest is stirring throughout the land. Is their love strong enough to withstand the outside forces tearing them apart?

What a great ending to an AMAZING-OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD series!!!!

I am so sad to see it end, but I love how much each character has grown and how much they've changed from page one of FALLING KINGDOMS to the last page of IMMORTAL REIGN. I love this series so, so, soooooo much!

There isn't one book in this series that I did not absolutely love. I started this series hating certain characters and voting for certain love interest and somehow the author derailed all my thoughts and hopes and I ended up loving them all and loving how everything ended for each and everyone of them. I went through every emotion while reading this series. Every time someone asks me for a book series to read I immediately think FALLING KINGDOMS. I am sad that it's over, but there had to be an ending, right?

I love how most, not all, of the characters from book one and on got a happy ending. I am especially happy with Cleo's ending!!

This series sort of reminds me of Game of Thrones. One minute you despise one character, and the next the author redeems them in some way and you end up loving them.

Gosh, I am rambling now.

I will end here (before I give away any spoilers) by saying if you have not started this series you are seriously missing out!!!

Rebels, royals, and monsters wage war over the Mytican throne in the shocking fourth book of the Falling Kingdoms series, from New York Times bestselling author Morgan Rhodes.

CLEO: Reeling after a bloody showdown in Limeros ending with Amara’s abduction of the water crystal, and a vacancy in the Mytican throne, Princess Cleo must cast aside her feelings and look toward her kingdom with the eyes of a Queen.

MAGNUS: With the kingdom in chaos, Princess Lucia still missing and quite possibly in danger, and a shocking realization about Cleo, the steely prince is once again torn between love and duty, leaving him wondering whether he’s strong enough to rule his people.

LUCIA: The young sorcercess has had her vengeance after the cruel death of her first and only love. Heartbroken and unable to trust anyone, she allies with the awoken Fire god, who also seeks revenge.

JONAS: After escaping death by the skin of his teeth, the defeated rebel—along with a mysterious stranger–leader reunites with Princess Cleo, only to find himself a mere pawn in a dangerous hunt for the elusive Kindred.

Here is my review of REBEL SPRING >> HERE <<

I did not review the third in the series because there was NO WAY I was able to talk about the book and not share any spoilers. What I can say about book three, GATHERING DARKNESS, is that it is my favorite in the entire series! I absolutely loved where the story goes, and how close some of the characters become. I might actually have to do a re-read before FROZEN TIDES comes out.

QUESTion: What material is the Auranian castle built from?

Excerpt: “Despite being named for a goddess, Cleo wasn’t invested in religion, nor was she alone in that. Many in the kingdom had drifted away from what was previously considered an important part of Auranian life. Years ago, the king had relaxed the rule that there be a day dedicated to prayer. All days were equal here, and his subjects could use their time however they pleased.” – Chapter 9, FALLING KINGDOMS

From Morgan: The name “Auranos” is inspired by the Latin word for gold (aureus). Auranos is the rich and prosperous southern kingdom in the land of Mytica. The castle itself is in the center of the walled palace city known as the “City of Gold.” The Auranian castle is built with stone that glitters like precious metal under the sun. Auranians wears their privilege on their sleeve for all to see – but it’s more from ignorance of how they’re being perceived by those less fortunate than a true need to show off.

Auranos boasts plenty of wildlife and agriculture that their poorer neighbors in Paelsia envy and try to poach by crossing through the dangerous Wildlands forest that separates the two kingdoms. Your average Auranian might not be a super rich noble, but he or she certainly isn’t going hungry.

At one time, Auranians worshiped Cleiona, goddess of fire and air—in fact, their current princess is named after this powerful goddess. But laziness, hedonism, and a lack of religious direction from their current king has made religion a much smaller part of their lives than it was in the past.

The citizens of Auranos’s days are filled with sunshine and happiness and prosperity, and rarely do they suffer—at least, that’s how it’s been for a millennium…
